ARTIST BIO
My first love, for drawing, was horses. They have continued to be an important part of my life. However, at age 14, I visited a sheepdog trial and so began an association with border collies. After being asked to draw a dog belonging to a departing committee member as a gift, I started to draw many more dogs, mostly on commission and there began a journey exploring the form of this amazing working dog. Capp, shown left, was a constant reference when I was a teenager as I explored the different directions the hair grew on the face. Over the years I have drawn many collies for different people including for some top class handlers in the sheepdog world. Other subjects include other breeds of dog as well as sheep, other farm animals, cats and horses. I work in different media, but mostly watercolour pencil, plain pencil, soluble pencil, pen & ink and also acrylic paint. As a member of Surrey Artists Open Studios, I have exhibited in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. |
